A Note from Katie: Why I Do This Work
"People often ask why I became a therapist, and it started long before any formal training.
Growing up, I learned how to hold a lot on my own. Like many people, I got very good at keeping it together on the outside, functioning, pushing through, and being “fine,” even when things felt heavier and harder to make sense of underneath.
Over time, and through my own therapy, I began to understand myself differently: how my mind works, how my experiences shaped me, and how easy it is to live in survival mode without ever feeling fully present. That shift did not happen all at once, but it changed everything.
I think about that even in everyday moments, like at the gym. Sometimes my trainers say, “You’re stronger than you think you are,” and it always sticks with me. There are moments when my brain tells me I cannot do something, but once I go for it, I realize I could. So much of change is like that. It is not always about ability. Often, it is fear, doubt, or old patterns convincing us we cannot move forward.
That is what led me here. My work is grounded in the belief that you do not have to stay stuck in patterns that once helped you get through but no longer serve you. You do not have to figure it all out alone. I care deeply about creating a space where you can be fully yourself, make sense of what is going on internally, and begin creating change that feels real and sustainable.
Because sometimes the hardest part is believing change is possible, until you begin to live it."
